The City of Maple Valley is recruiting applicants for four appointments to serve on the City’s Library Advisory Board. The City of Maple Valley is recruiting applicants for three regular members, one alternate member and a youth-at-large member to serve on the City’s Library Advisory Board. The regular appointed members will serve the remainder of a three-year term through December 2023. The alternate will serve the remainder of a three-year term through December 2023. The youth-at-large member will serve a one-year term January through December 2022. The Library Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and coordinates with the Board of Trustees of the King County Library System. Board activities include making recommendations for library services and proposed facilities, attending and providing input during the King County Library System annual budget hearings, and preparing and presenting an annual report of library operations to the City Council.
The five-member Board meets bimonthly on the first Thursday of the month, at 7:00 p.m., with the first meeting of each year taking place in February. Appointment to the Board shall be made by the Mayor, with confirmation by the City Council. Applicants must be residents of the City of Maple Valley or reside within the Maple Valley Library Service Area or own, operate or be employed by business entities located within the Maple Valley Service Area as defined by the King County Library System. Meeting will continue to be virtual for the foreseeable future.
