Shanti Bhavan Children's Project

About Us

We empower children from impoverished backgrounds to take control of their lives and bring positive change to their families and communities. Each child receives 17 years of educational intervention, from the age of four until they graduate from college and begin their career. Our commitment extends from their first day of school to their first day of work. Shanti Bhavan levels the playing field, allowing our children to compete in the global marketplace on their own merit.

Our approach is revolutionary.

Shanti Bhavan represents a radical change from conventional short-term basic literacy educational models: we promote academic achievement, instill values of global citizenship, and emphasize leadership development. Our program gives individual attention to every aspect of a child’s upbringing: emotional development, mental and physical fitness, social and cognitive growth, and academic excellence.

Rigorous Academics

Our curriculum adheres to the highest national standards, set by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). Small class sizes and skilled teachers prepare students to enter India’s top universities.

Leadership Development

Our students engage in public speaking and debate to develop their poise and confidence. They organize events and conduct leadership clubs, honing their ability to positively impact their communities.

Global Values

We nurture integrity, generosity, and compassion in our children. Students learn life skills and become responsible citizens through guidance counseling and mentorship programs. They go on to apply the lessons they have learned at Shanti Bhavan by paying it forward to others in need.

Our children succeed.

We provide the tools and support for Shanti Bhavan children to escape poverty. Our graduates are entrepreneurs, authors, engineers, and employees at multinational corporations like Amazon, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Mercedes-Benz. They make more in the first five years of their careers than their parents will in a lifetime.

Our effect is multiplicative.

Shanti Bhavan graduates give back 20-60% of their salaries to their families, communities, and other children in need, creating a ripple effect that impacts thousands. They support their families financially, fight for the legal rights of the disenfranchised, and negotiate infrastructure improvements in villages. Our graduates create better lives for themselves and others using the knowledge, skills, and education they have acquired at Shanti Bhavan.
