The Slingerland Literacy Institute

The Slingerland Literacy Institute was established to promote excellence in literacy instruction through the work of Beth Slingerland and the Slingerland Approach.

The Slingerland Approach revolutionized literacy instruction in 1960 as the first whole-classroom adaptation of the Orton-Gillingham 1-to-1 approach. Since that time, thousands of teachers have received Slingerland training and delivered excellence in literacy instruction to countless students. The multisensory, structured language Slingerland Approach is effective for any general education classroom and particularly effective for struggling readers (e.g., dyslexic, ELL or other language barriers).
