We believe that true accessibility is first and foremost an inside job.

Ramps and lifts are wonderful tools, but they can only allow a person to enter the building. Allowing a person with a disability to enter the community requires the community itself to become accessible, member-by-member. That’s why Bridge works to create communities where every individual has their gifts acknowledged alongside their challenges and provided with, not just the ability to be present, but the opportunity to contribute to community life.

Our work

We work to build more accessible communities through three programs:

The Meyer Medical Equipment Center (MMEC)

The largest and best-equipped adaptive equipment closet in the Puget Sound area, the MMEC collects donations of durable medical equipment, such as walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, and canes, which we clean, repair, and redistribute to community members in need.

Guardianship

The only agency in King County dedicated exclusively to supporting adults with developmental disabilities, our guardianship program provides oversight in financial, medical, and legal matters to 48 developmentally disabled adults, ensuring that some of the most vulnerable members of our community have someone on their side.

Spiritual Connections

Places of worship serve as a primary source of community for many people, offering a sense of connection, belonging, and unconditional care. Our Spiritual Connections program assists faith communities to extend an extravagant welcome to people with disabilities and holds events that provide opportunities for connection and spiritual enrichment.
