About Us: Empowering Strides non-profit organization providing therapeutic horsemanship to children who face behavioral, emotional and/or cognitive challenges. Through the use of horses we can offer youth a different perspective. Horses often mirror the emotions of their handler which allows the horse to teach a child far easier than an authoritative figure. Horses gently encourage a new awareness and connection in people that grows a person’s self-awareness and leadership abilities.
What We’re Looking For: We seek dynamic, forward-thinking individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ideal candidates will have a passion for social impact and a desire to contribute their skills in areas such as fundraising, marketing, finance, or community outreach. Experience with horses is a major bonus but not a requirement.
Empowering Strides is a small organization with one paid administrative employee, so our board is considered a working board and is involved with many aspects of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly board meetings (in person preferred-Snohomish)
- Assist with strategic planning and financial oversight
- Assist with fundraising initiatives (including in person events)
- Support program development and evaluation
- Advocate for our mission in the community
- Network and relationship building
