Position Summary:
The Marketing & Communications Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of 4 annual events by driving attendance, increasing visibility, and effectively communicating WAA’s value. All members can rotate responsibilities on different events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Marketing Strategy Development:
- Develop a marketing and communications plan to promote events.
- Collaborate with the committee to ensure marketing aligns with the event’s goals.
- Content Creation:
- Create engaging and visually appealing promotional materials, including flyers, social media posts, email campaigns, and press releases.
- Write compelling copy for marketing materials, event descriptions, and invitations.
- Oversee the design and production of branded event assets (banners, signage, etc.).
- Social Media Management:
- Manage social media accounts and develop a content calendar to ensure consistent posting.
- Engage with followers and respond to inquiries on social platforms.
- Monitor analytics to optimize campaign performance and outreach.
- Email Marketing & Communications:
- Develop and manage email campaigns to promote the event and share updates.
- Coordinate messaging for registration confirmations, reminders, and post-event follow-ups.
- Website & Event Page Management:
- Maintain an event landing page with up-to-date information.
- Ensure smooth integration of registration systems with promotional materials.
- Monitor and optimize web traffic and user engagement.
- On-Site Marketing Support:
- Oversee branding and promotional material placement at the event.
- Coordinate live social media coverage, such as posts, stories, or live streams.
- Capture photos, videos, and attendee testimonials for post-event promotion.
Qualifications:
- Experience or strong interest in marketing, communications, or public relations is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, email marketing tools, and basic graphic design software.
- Creative mindset with attention to detail and brand consistency.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for the mission and goals of the event.
Time Commitment:
- Flexible hours, with an increased timetable leading up to events.
- Attendance at committee meetings and availability for 2 of the 4 full event days, including setup and teardown.
